In a press statement released from the State House in Banjul this afternoon, President Adama Barrow has fired Ms. Fatoumata Tambajang as the Vice President and replaced her with Mr. Ousainou Darboe the Minster of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Omar Jallow (OJ), the leader of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) and Mr. Henry Gomez, the Gambia Party for Democracy and Progress (GPDP) both founding members of the Coalition 2016 were removed from ministerial positions.
Mr. Omar Jallow, the Minister of Agriculture; Mr. DA Jawo, the Minister of Information and Communication Infrastructure; and Ms. Saffie Lowe-Ceesay have been removed without any further deployments.
The Vice President, Mrs. Fatoumata Tambajang, is said to have been deployed to Foreign Services; Mr. Lamin N. Dibba to the Ministry of Agriculture; Mr. Amadou Sanneh, the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs to Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration; and Dr. Isatou Touray, the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration to Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
Two Jammeh Ministers, Mr. Mambury Njie and Mr. Momodou Tangara, have been recycled to head the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Gambians Abroad respectively. Below is the full text of the Press Release from the State House Press Secretary:
